If you’re looking for the perfect present this year, then consider a new Azalea home! As the old saying goes, “there’s no time like the present,” and this is true for new homebuyers too. Interest rates are at an all time low and real estate prices are rising each month. In addition, new policy changes for FHA loans that have been under review for several years are now set to be enacted in 2013.
According to a recent article from the Inman News, those who qualify for FHA loans will still pay 3.5 percent minimum down payments, underwriting will continue to be generous on key items like debt-to-income rations, and the FHA will continue its one-price-for-all. However, six percent seller contributions towards closing costs will likely only be available to purchasers for a minimum time. According to the article, regulators are considering a proposal to reduce the maximum seller contributions in the first quarter of 2013 to as low as three percent of the total loan amount. Buyers looking for the best value and best financing opportunities should act now while rates remain low and FHA policies remain favorable. Continue reading
